What are the important issues for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts living in Europe today, on which the Europe Region WAGGGS has chosen to speak out:
Active citizenship and participation in decision making
Recognition and accreditation of non-formal education
Childrens Rights
Make healthy food choices
Fight AIDS
How the Europe Region WAGGGS is speaking out, educating and taking action on behalf of its members in Europe
The Europe Region WAGGGS follows and contributes to the work of the European Union, and the Council of Europe on issues relating to youth, gender, health, and childrens rights. The region also networks and develops partnerships with a number of Brussels-based NGOs working on these issues.
The members of the WAGGGS Advocacy Group speak out on behalf of young people in Europe, particularly girls and young women, at meetings, working groups and other events organized at European level
A Toolkit on Advocacy has been developed, and trainng on incorporating advocacy into an Association’s programme is provided at regional events, such as at the European Guide Conference and the Pick ’n’ Mix event in March 2008
