International Youth Day 2008

Youth and Climate Change : Time for Action is the theme of the 2008 International Youth Day, which is celebrated each year on 12 August. 

This year, International Youth Day recognizes the importance of involving young people in the call for action on climate change.  Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations call on the world to recognize the potential of young people, and involve them in decision-making at all levels as efforts are taken to adapt, mitigate and prepare for the effects of climate change.

This was precisely the message which WAGGGS gave at the recent Citizen’s Agora on Climate Change, organized by the European Parliament, which took place in June 2008.
